Sean McAnally

Sean has been involved with litigation in New Zealand and the Cook Islands for some 25 years.  While he now predominantly acts on civil and commercial cases, his background includes criminal, family and regulatory matters. He has appeared in all levels of the court system including the Privy Council and also appears in specialist tribunals such as the Health Practitioners’ Disciplinary Tribunal and the Real Estate Agents’ Disciplinary Tribunal.  Before joining the independent bar in 2022, he spent 20 years at Keegan Alexander, 13 of those as a partner.

Janey Haringa

Janey Haringa is the founder and principal of JH LAW, a
Waikato-based firm established to support NZ businesses with practical,
commercially focused legal advice. With a background spanning biomedical
science, capital raising and law, Janey brings a strong commercial lens to
structuring property investments and shareholder arrangements. She advises on
aligning funding, governance and stakeholder expectations, and has held
governance roles with the New Zealand Shareholders’ Association and the
Waikato Chamber of Commerce.

Fiona Jack

Fiona brings extensive experience in general practice law, combined with a deep, hands-on understanding of farming. After a decade away from law to expand her family’s dairy business, she returned to full-time practice. Her first-hand knowledge of how legal provisions impact day-to-day farming operations has helped shape her approach to drafting clearer, more practical agreements that reduce disputes. Fiona completed her Master’s in Law in 2024 while balancing full-time work and farm management. Passionate about supporting the rural community, she prefers working behind the scenes but values opportunities like this conference to collaborate and enhance legal outcomes for farmers.

Todd Whitcombe

Todd is the sole Director of Whitcombe Law, and is a property law expert. He is a member of TLANZ’s Property Law and Property Disputes Committees, a NZLS Accredited Property Law Specialist and a former member of the NZLS Property Law Section’s Executive Committee. From time to time, Todd provides expert evidence in courts on various property-related matters, and also receives appointments to make determinations under the compensation provisions of the ASPRE.

Robbie Muir

Robbie has worked in
property law and land registration for much of his career. He leads a
regulatory office within Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand and has
held the position of Registrar-General of Land since 2000. Robbie was centrally
involved in the development of Landonline and the modernisation of the Land
Transfer Act to support the digitisation of the title registration system. He
has presented at numerous seminars and conferences on conveyancing matters over
the years.

Tina Hwang

Tina is a Director of Queen City Law and is the leader of its Property and Disputes Team. She is Convenor of TLANZ’s Property Law Committee and sits on the Property Disputes Committee and Civil Litigation Committee. She specialises in property, construction, and litigation and is frequently in court while advocating sensible settlement options for clients wherever possible.
