10 Dec 2025

| Author: The Justice Sector Directorate
The Justice Sector Directorate is leading work across the justice sector to improve the way remote participation operates, particularly for people in custody appearing via AVL. The current focus is on specific court, corrections, and police locations:
  • Auckland District Court
  • Auckland Police Custody Unit
  • Mount Eden Correctional Facility
  • Manukau District Court
  • Counties-Manukau Police Custody Unit
  • Waitakere District Court
  • Henderson Police Custody Unit
  • North Shore District Court
  • North Shore Police Custody Unit
They are seeking feedback on experiences using AVL, arranging AVL instructions meetings, coordinating AVL with the courts, and any other relevant experiences relating to remote participation for people in custody.
The survey is open now and will close on 19 December 2025. As it is being circulated through several organisations, some may receive the link more than once. Only one response may be submitted per person. For assistance, contact [email protected].
