LawNews – Writers Festival 2026

Draw Terms and Conditions

 

1. Organiser
This prize draw is organised by LawNews of Level 18, Vero Centre, 48 Shortland Street, Auckland 1010, New Zealand.

 

2. Eligibility
The prize draw is open to individuals entering the LawNews: Empire of AI: The Reckless Race for Domination Giveaway who fully complete and submit the information form during the Entry Period. Each person may enter the prize draw once only.

 

3. Prizes
Participants will go in the draw to win the following prize:

  • Prize 1: Win tickets to attend this year’s Auckland Writers Festival 2026A complimentary double pass to attend the seminar event ‘Empire of AI: The Reckless Race for Domination at the 2026 Auckland Writers Festival.

The prize covers the event ticket fee only and does not include travel, accommodation, or any other costs. The prize is nontransferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or an alternative.

Prizes will be provided to the winners in a manner decided by LawNews.

 

4. Entry Period
To be eligible for entry, all fully completed forms must be submitted by 5.00 pm (NZST) on Monday 11 May 2026.

 

5. Draw and Notification
The prize draw will take place after the close of the Entry Period and winners will be randomly selected from the eligible entries.

The Law Association will attempt to contact the winners via email or phone within three business days of the prize draw date.

 

6. Unclaimed Prizes
If a winner cannot be contacted within five business days, or declines the prize, LawNews reserves the right to draw a replacement winner from the remaining eligible entries.

 

7. Public Announcement
The names of the prize winners may be announced on LawNews’s official website, social media channels, or other communication platforms. By participating in this prize draw, participants consent to LawNews using their name for this purpose.

 

8. Data Usage and Privacy
Personal information collected from participants will be used for the purpose of administering the prize draw and contacting winners.

Where participants provide consent, contact details may also be used by LawNews to provide information about future events, publications, and services.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and The Law Association’s Privacy Policy.

LawNews is not responsible for any technical malfunction, network failure, delayed transmission, or any other issue that may result in an entry not being received.

 

9. General Conditions

LawNews reserves the right to disqualify any entry that does not comply with these Terms and Conditions.

Participation in the prize draw constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

LawNews’ decisions regarding the prize draw are final and binding.

 

10. Amendments and Cancellation
LawNews reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or cancel the prize draw at its discretion at any time.

 

11. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, LawNews excludes all liability for any loss, damage, or injury arising from participation in this prize draw or acceptance or use of a prize.

 

12. Force Majeure
LawNews is not liable for failure to perform any obligation where the failure is due to events beyond its reasonable control.

 

13. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising in connection with this prize draw is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
